Specific Need

Needs include:

1. Cash donations to pay for materials and any labor expenses that may be required.

2. Volunteers to help complete project work. Individuals, churches and organizations can ask to be placed on a contact list. When a project fitting their particular skills or the type of assistance they prefer to provide becomes available, they will be called. Specialized skills are not necessary. ANYONE can help because the kinds of projects Neighbor-2-Neighbor does is so varied.

3. Volunteers to serve on the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Board of Directors.

Mission

Neighbor-2-Neighbor is a privately-funded, Sabetha-based program that connects people, churches, and other resources with individuals and families who need help. It sponsors projects that improve the lives and living conditions of our neighbors in tangible ways, especially those related to people's HOMES. It provides an avenue for community members and churches to work together to serve and lift up people in need (our neighbors), build relationships and create healthier neighborhoods. We believe that communities thrive when God’s love is spread neighbor to neighbor.

Neighbor-2-Neighbor is:

A privately-funded, Sabetha-based program that connects people, churches, organizations and other resources with individuals and families who need help.
Project-based where work is completed by volunteers to help improve the homes and living conditions of our neighbors in the Sabetha community. This could include house repairs, painting, yard cleanup and more.
An organization that can provide support for families who are experiencing a financial, medical or other emergency brought on by the loss of a job, illness or other difficulty.
A way for you, your church or other organizations to serve people in our community (your neighbors) in a very tangible way, both physically and spiritually.
A GREAT opportunity to lift up people in need, build relationships and create healthier neighborhoods in Sabetha.
Governed by established by-laws administered by a volunteer Board of Directors from the community. Every application is reviewed by the Board and the privacy of those receiving assistance is respected.

Neighbor-2-Neighbor projects in the past have included yard cleanup, debris removal, home repairs, painting, support for families experiencing hardship due to unforeseen circumstances, and more. Neighbor-2-Neighbor benefits the community in many ways by helping people improve their living conditions, connecting neighbors to other community members, and by assisting churches and service organizations to locate projects and individuals they can serve while beautifying Sabetha.

You can help by:

Volunteering to work on a project. Projects suitable for any skill level are available, whether you’re an experienced fixer-upper or have never used a hammer in your life.
Enlisting your church, youth group, school or other organization to sponsor a project.
Letting us know about someone that could use some help or by telling others about Neighbor-2-Neighbor.
Donate! Neighbor-2-Neighbor is completely funded through private contributions. You can also donate supplies or tools for projects.

Why does Sabetha need a program like this? Many people in our community need assistance with home repairs and maintenance. The need might be the result of the loss of a job, physical infirmities, lack of skills or a multitude of other reasons. Without proper care and maintenance, homes and properties can become dilapidated, unsafe or unsanitary, often resulting in viloation of city codes and legal citations.

Sometimes a tragedy, such as a house fire, or other emergency like loss of a job or medical expenses puts a family into crisis. The crisis often affects more than just a family's home or financial well-being, impacting spiritual and physical well-being as well. Getting connected to the right people and resources is key for those who find themselves in these situations. Neighbor-2-Neighbor helps by helping negihbors get connected to the right resources, lifting them up and showing them they are not alone.
